How a cake maker reached six figures during a global pandemic

I read about Shelly a few months ago.  Her story is the best example I've come across of the benefits of branded planners or journals to a business. 

Shelly runs a cake making business, and pre-pandemic, she'd been incredibly successful, with her clients including HM The Queen and Gordon Ramsey...    then in 2020 it all went quiet, as was the case for thousands of businesses. 

So Shelly came up with the solution -  she created a planner for cake makers. It was published on Amazon in August 2020 and quickly became a best seller.  Other business owners started approaching Shelly for advice, and based on their questions, she went on to create a business planner which was also published on Amazon, and her book sales contributed in a major way to her becoming a six-figure business during the pandemic. 

I think the biggest lesson to take from this is that almost any business could benefit from adding branded journals or planners to their range of products / services -  even if you don't launch a best-seller, there are still many advantages and virtually no disadvantages. 

My own recent example

I was able to donate £100 to a charity supporting Ukraine, via sales of a notebook I designed in an hour one Sunday afternoon and promoted on social media and to my email subscribers.  Sales are still ongoing so I'm hoping to donate more soon.
